Nice article and photos. I love that quote at the end from Andrew. I feel that way about photos. They are never a waste of time and a photo I have taken brings be back to that moment more clearly than a faint memory. I can recall the scents and mood and sounds from most of my photos. I will have to add this to our list of places to visit. Andrew is a part of my wife's family tree on her Grandpa's side, so she has always held a deep appreciation for his work. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for reading. I think if you could look at a photograph you captured and it evokes those senses you speak of you've definitely made a successful image! Also, very cool connection you have to the Wyeth's.
Beautiful work, Matthew! Thanks so much for sharing these insights and images with us. I am a long-time fan of Andrew Wyeth and have been deeply inspired by his work. Your experience sounds moving and memorable. I'm looking forward to seeing more of these pictures. Thanks so much for sharing the article!
Thanks, Andy! I'm just seeing your comment now. Wyeth has always been a prominent figure around my area, but I never really dove into his work until a few years ago, when I noticed a painting he did of a road I drive on daily—it immediately connected with me. Being able to visit the farm regularly and witness the scenes he painted is super inspiring. It’s also nice to interpret this place he spent so much time in for myself and create my own work. I drive by Wyeth’s mill house almost every day on my way to work. Awesome to hear you're also inspired by his work—you have to plan a visit to Chadds Ford!
What an awesome experience! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thanks for reading and the feedback, I appreciate it!
I love those Wyeth paintings and your appreciation for the light of that place. The layers in that opening image really captivate me.
Thanks Ben! I took that this past autumn, it was nice to watch the sun fade up on that hill.
